Good story from the perspective of someone dealing with TBIRiley is trying to figure out where his life is going, and thinks he witnesses a murder. Everyone there thinks it his trauma causing him to believe that. He starts investigating and finds a friend and maybe New answer about his relationship with Gabby. If he hasn't already blown that.
There are two sides to every story, and Barritt does a good job at presenting that other side in While You Were Sweeping. I was drawn to Christy Barritt’s latest mystery novella, While You Were Sweeping, because it was about time for the readers of the Squeaky Clean Mysteries to finally hear Riley’s side of the story. If you have read the Squeaky Clean Mysteries, then you should remember that Riley was Gabby St. Claire’s finance when he got shot in the head. As an avid reader of Gabby St. [...]

I really like the books I've read in the Squeaky Clean Mystery Series by Christy Barritt, so I was excited to read this spin off novella about Riley (a very likable character from the other books). I highly recommend reading series in order whenever possible. Sadly, that hasn't been the case for me with this one. I've already read the novel that comes after this novella, so some parts didn't quite pack the punch they otherwise would have. But, it was still a very interesting story. I really felt [...]
So great to hear Riley's side of the story. This is a spin off from the Squeaky Clean Series and it really helped answer some of the questions I had about Riley's feelings towards Gabby and why he is doing what he is. It also gave insight into the struggles Riley has been dealing with as he tries to recover from his brain trauma. In this book, Riley tries to figure out if an event he believes he witnessed actually happened or if he brain is playing tricks on him. While he tries to figure this ou [...]
This book fits in between Mucky Streak and Foul PlayAfter reading Mucky Streak and Foul play, I felt disappointed, like there was something missing. I missed Riley being in the picture and not knowing what his side of the story was. I didn't realize that While You Were Sweeping was the filler I needed. This book about Riley's side of the story after his gunshot wound to the head and his rehabilitation really gave a lot of insight not only to what Riley was going through, but what that kind of in [...]
Riley takes a turn at investigatingRiley is having a hard time recovering from his gunshot wound to his head. He misses Gabby, his ex fiancee. Gabby's nose for solving crimes has rubbed off on Riley. Riley hears a gunshot and then sees his neighbor dragging a heavy rug out to his truck. No one believes him. They think it's his brain playing tricks. If he could just call Gabby, he knows she would believe him. I really enjoyed Riley's story, but would like to shake him for not calling Gabby. But, [...]
I've enjoyed the adventures of Gabby St. Clair for nine books now and I'm looking forward to the next installment. This novella from Riley's perspective gives the reader insight into where he stands. He still loves Gabby but he doesn't want her to put her life on hold for him. But did his decision to let her go ruin all chances of a future with the woman he loves? As Riley tries to solve the mystery of what happened at his neighbor's house, he struggles to come to terms with his brain injury, his [...]
This short Novella is a great sneak peak into Riley’s life after his accident. Reading the squeaky clean mysteries we get Gabby’s side but not Riley’s. It was sad when they went their separate ways. This will help you to see why. I still have high hopes for Riley and wouldn’t mind seeing him and Gabby get back together some day. I liked to read his view and how he is trying to get thru his issues. It is hard to give reviews sometimes without spoiling the book… the end Riley gets a good [...]
This book falls between Books # 7and 8 in Christy Barritt's Squeaky Clean Series, so you really need to read the previous books in order to really get the complete picture of Riley and Gabby's story. It was really nice, in this novella, to hear Riley's side of the story and to find out why he was moving back to his parents and away from Gabby. I have to say though, that I don't enjoy reading this series quite as much when Gabby and Riley are not working together, with Riley having her back, to s [...]
This is a great story that gives you a chance to see what Riley has been up to since his injury and moving away from Virginia. Riley finds himself caught up in trying to figure out what his neighbor has been up to and wondering if he really saw something or if it was a result of his injury. It was interesting in seeing what he has been up to and I liked that he was talking to some people and working at trying to get his life back on track. I look forward to more Riley and hope to see him back wi [...]
I am a huge fan of the Squeaky Clean Mysteries and thoroughly enjoyed this spin off. It was great to hear Riley's side of things regarding his breakup with Gabby. I don't know a lot about traumatic brain injury, but his struggle to recover seemed realistic and gave me a new perspective on what happened between him and Gabby. It also made a clever plot device for the mystery. Did he hear and see what he thought he did or is his mind playing tricks? He seems determined to get himself together and [...]
Riley's side of the storyIn this book we learn what Riley is going through after Scum shot him in the head. Riley struggles with his brain injury and questions what he heard and saw at his parents neighbors home. No one believes Riley when he tells his family about it. If only he could talk to Gabby! A great mystery! Riley's story is a good one and answers our questions about how he feels about Gabby.
As always another great book from Christy!I'm so happy to finally hear Riley's story. I've missed him in the other books and can't wait to see what more Christy has for him in Gabby's life.I feel bad for Riley as he struggles to get his life back. I can't imagine what it would be like to have your happy life all planned out and then in one minute have it all change. I love that Christy brings in the story that it's only through God's help that Riley can truly heal.
This book is for all the Riley fansI love Christy Barritt's books. I'm so glad we have Rileys story. We get to see the trials Riley has been going through since he was shot in the head. Riley wants to find purpose in his life and he misses his fiance. Should be stay with his parents or go back to old apartment?I love when an author writes a novella to give us answers. I predict this is another bestseller. 5 stars!!!!
Now I know of why Riley left Gabby! His parents brought a therapist from D.C. . That therapist convinced Riley that his relationship with Gabby would disintegrate. She coerced him to remove himself from unnecessary emotional stress. She told him that he needed to space himself from Gabby while he tried to recovered. What miserable lives they both were living, due to others interferences.
1/13/15-1/15/15Riley is living with his parents while recovering from a traumatic brain injury. While walking around his parent property he hears a gunshot, then spies his neighbor dragging out what he thinks is a body rolled up in a rug. He tries to figure out this mystery while trying to figure out his feelings for his ex fiancé, Gabby. Great book!
Another Squeaky CleanMight be a novella, but is squeaky clean and has author Christy Barritt's Riley Thomas character. He is the Squeaky Clean primary love interest of Gabby St Clair, star of the Squeaky Clean series. Good story but you will need to read a couple of the Squeaky Clean books for it to make good sense.
This was an awesome story. Reading how Riley is recuperating and how much of Gabby has rubbed off on him was great. I’m not sure if this is to be considered part of the Squeaky Clean series or not, but this story and To Love, Honor, and Perish were my favorites in the series.
Going back and picking this up later made for more suspense in the actual squeaky clean books since we didn't know how Riley felt. Usually don't like novellas but this was fine we already knew the main character.
Riley's realizationAfter he received a traumatic brain injury from a bad guy in his past, Riley ran ahead of God by listening to others. An act he regretted soon after. Was it too late to listen? Would Gabby wait?
Mixed thoughts on this one. While I liked learning more about Riley's thought process & time away from Gabby, something about the crime investigation didn't feel authentic felt forced. Overall a decent, quick read.
Nice addition to Squeaky Clean Series This novella tells the story from Riley's side. He solves a mystery too, but still doesn't get back together with Gabby. Now I can't wait for the next book in the series.
A great readThis was as good as,, almost better than, the squeaky clean mysteries. It was so good to read about Riley and I hope to read in the next book that they are back together.
True to lifeIt was a joy to spent time reading a mystery that had more turns than a highway interchange that also held truth about a life of faith. Each time I read a book in the series I wished that Christians everywhere would read them.
Great short story with an underlying Christian teachingHaven't you ever wondered how some people survive extreme circumstances, i.e. a gunshot wound to the head while someone else dies from a not nearly as extreme of an injury? God has another plan for their live!
Really great novella!!This is a welcome short piece about how Riley was doing while in DC and his side of the story. This shorty mystery works on all levels, faith, love, trust in God, ourselves and friends.
Sweet StoryFocusing on Riley and his brain injury, his progress is much further along than people have him credit. His faith and listening to God give this story a reason to remember to trust God and give yourself more credit than you feel you may deserve.
I'm glad Riley story was written to help explain why he left our beloved gabby.
I loved this book and it was wonderful to read from Riley's perspective. I highly recommend this book!
